...complete game for that starter?
A walkoff can happen before 9 innings, please think before answering.
That can easily happen in a tied game, a walkoff walk is unlikely though cause the manager will have switched by that point, that I will definitely agree with.
The point is, he isn't pitching for 27 outs... If he gives up a run with one out in the 9th, and his team is playing at home, the game is over and he's gotten 25 outs. I know that a pitcher will get a complete game with 8 innings pitched if he's losing at home and his team doesn't come back. But I don't know how an incomplete inning will factor into him getting a complete game.
In the last part, I messed up the scenario. The pitcher is on the visiting team, and the home team scores the winning run. Anyways, the point still stands that he doesn't get 27 outs and the game is over in the middle of an inning.
