in technology? The Mayans were known as a very advanced civilization, with knowledge in astronomy possibly even farther than our own right now. What could civilization and technology be right now if, suppose they weren't killed off and their knowledge was shared to the rest of the world? :)
okay, so they weren't even going to exist up to now. Still, Cortez' people destroyed much of what documented their understanding of the heavens and stuff. What if these relics were preserved? What if we were able to study them? could they have made a great contribution to technology? How?

We could have been much more advanced if Christians hadn't been so intolerant and discriminating through out history. They have destroyed many things of great value, not only from the Mayan culture. Things that we could have benefited from greatly. The Romans knew things that we have had to reinvent 2000 years later because the Christians kicked us into the dark ages and destroyed the knowledge. (>.<)

The Mayan knowledge would have been good for people to have because of their calculation skills and their skills at predicting astronomical events. Things as the first man in space and the first man on the moon would have been much more different with their knowledge combines with all other sources of knowledge. Our understanding of the universe would also have started sooner and gotten more facts right in a much earlier stage than it has.

It's quite mind-boggling to try and picture what Mesopotamian, Greek, Egyptian, Persian, Mayan, Indian, Chinese and the Islamic astronomy could have accomplished if they had been combined at an early stage without any censor or destruction from any other side.

nope! the population was on the decline long before cortez and his men arrived. these monsters performed human sacrifices by the droves. they deserved to be destroyed. the same is true for western judeo-christian-muslim societies.

From everything I have read and seen on the History Channel and Discovery Channel, they have said that the Mayan Calendar is more accurate than our own. It makes you think that it is that good why don't we use that calandar. Honestly, there might be benefits. These people knew how many days there was in a year centuries before the Eurasian continent.
