a close friend of mine had the esophyx fail, and was told that his only real option was to have the nissen - is this true?

I'd be very interested to hear any story about an esophyx which failed and then was repaired ??? I'm thinking that if the scar tissue overgrows the fasteners - how can they possibly repair (or replace, reverse, undo) the procedure?
It seems as though every doctor (online stories at least) are recommending the nissen following a failed esophyx? -

please let me know if there are any stories about an esophyx failure that has had any option other than the nissen ?? and if so - what was done?

thanks much!

NO surgery is a "guarantee" to solve anything. I had the Nissen done in 1995 by a well respected surgeon who had done hundreRAB of them and mine , although not having any complications, did not stop my reflux at all. I am presently taking Kapidex 60mg in am , and Zantac 300 mg before bedtime. GREG
