if the army had no real purpose people would still join?

Even if there is world peace somehow... can you guarantee no natural disasters.

It is obvious you know nothing about the military. The military does a lot more then "shooting little guns."

I can shoot guns and not be in the Army. Some people join for the love of their country.

Whoever said its for the money is completely wrong. I made more money in my civilian job than I ever made in the Army. In this economy you may be right though.

That is why the highest recruits come from cities and towns, with job-growth.
