...calculating financial aid award? The current school district and the home elementary school where my children is attending is terrible; academics, curriculum, environment etc. because it is in a low income neighborhood.
Prior to this, my children has been attending private school on my expense. But now, I am unemployed and the amount of child support alone is not sufficient for me to pay for their private tuition fees. I am now fallen into the low income category.
If non custodial parent refuses to submit any financial
information or refuses to contribute towards kid's education, and
the court is not even helping after several request that the
court grant the request for children to attend private school and
that non-custodial parent to be financially responsible for the
tuition fees.

I am the sole custodial parent and have been unemployed for the past 3 years, so there is no tax return (W-2, 1099, 1040) filed. The
only income is child support.

Should I still try to apply for financial aid based on my "income" and situation alone? What approach is taken in calculating financial aid
award by private schools? What else can I do to higher my chances for a financial aid so that my children can get the best education that they deserves?
