If my husband and I get custody of our niece will we be able to get financial help?

My niece is being taken away from my mother-in-law due to neglect. I don't want to see her go to foster care so my husband and I offered to take her in and care for her. We are already expecting a baby in a few months and my husband isn't working right now so things are already tight. But we love our niece and want her to be in a stable home with her family. I'm just wondering if we will be able to get help financially if we do get custody?
 
Check with social services. Welfare is usually available, if child support can not be procured. If you plan to adopt her, you will only be able to get tax benefits. Your heart is good, and everything will be okay, because of your kindness.
