I have a 2004 BMW 330xi and I recently had the brakes and pads replaced. Now my car squeaks like crazy every time I hit the brakes. I can hardly stand it! The dealership says that metallic breaks are recommended on my car. If I tell them to switch the pads to ceramic, is that going to affect the performance of my brakes?
Thanks!!
I have had the car back for two weeks now. How long is average for the "squeaking" to stop as a result of the new brakes?
Thanks Karle, Here is the bottom line...I took my car in to my dealership for my state inspection and they passed my car but said I would need new brakes soon. I went ahead and had the brakes and pad replaced (they said the rotors were fine)?? I have never had a problem in the past with my brakes squealing but noticed that when I got my car back that they squealed every time I hit the brakes. I understand that brakes do this when they are new, so I kept driving it thinking they would eventually wear in. It has been two weeks so I just brought it back to the shop last night to have it looked over. They call me today and tell me everything is fine with the brakes but if the squealing is bothering me that they can use ceramic brakes but that my car recommends that metallic brake pads are used?? So assuming they mean the semi-metallic...
Thanks!!
