If MPs need a second home for the job why can't we buy them from the public purse?

They could then be passed on to next successful candidate.
They would remain state property and any money spent on improvements would not just benefit the MP.
Public money is spent by MPs to refirb their second homes.
How much help do you get with your mortgage?
Say a Londoner ends up as MP for a northern town, we could have a home in each constituency, a bit like the Church do for Clergymen.
The Church have managed it for centuries
