If mercury always kept the same side toward the sun, would the night side always face

the same stars then? I know mercury does not always keep the same side, but take hypothetically that the rotation and revolution were equal, therefore the same side always faced the sun
 
No. Mercury would still orbit the Sun. Therefor the stars that the dark side can see will change as the Merucry-year progresses. Just like here on Earth.
