I called the police about 6 months ago because my ex boyfriend broke the restraining order i had on him. An officer came to my house about a week ago and gave me a subpoena to go to court. Can i get in trouble if i don't go to court?

Failure to appear on a subpoena is contempt of court, which is a criminal offense and usually results in jail time.

If you have a compelling reason to not appear, you will need to plead the case before a judge, which suggests that you find an attorney. Otherwise, obey the subpoena.

Sorry!
