If I'm just starting out in photography, what is a good camera to get?

I started out with Canon Rebel XTi...its really easy to use. :] and as far as the cameras besides point and shoot....which btw i wouldn't use a point and shoot if you want pro looking photographs....its not that expensive. Hope I helped.

To start out with I would use that camera I mean...Obviously once you get into it...you can get more lenses and upgrade ur camera.
 
I bought a Canon EOS 1000 they call it an entry level DSLR & I am very happy with it.
I actually bought a Nikon D40 before that, I only had it about two months before separating with my partner, I let her take what she wanted & the camera went with her.
I am more happy with the Canon & being single.
Law man you are clever a point & shoot is not for you.
I hadn't realised how expensive lenses were to buy separately, I would have been better off buying a kit that included another lens.
