....why have all the Catholic Cathedrals I've been in have statues that people kiss, pray to, touch....and candles that are lit for saints....and the Cross to look to....and above all, an idol of Jesus ON the cross....as well as apostles and 'saints' images/statues. And why kiss the toe of the statue of Peter?

and why the veneration of Mary?
I am not Protestant
MARYSIA: PICTURES of people, not used in an aid to worship, are not idols. Bad example.

I personally don't kneel by my bed to pray, but if I did, I would still be praying TO GOD, not to the mattress. Bad example.

If I pray beside a friend, I am not praying TO THEM. I am still praying TO GOD. Bad example.

As for Mary worship, Catholics DO pray to her, and the scriptures DO say it's ONLY thru Jesus we should pray, and TO GOD. Mary was Jesus' mother, who deserved motherly respect and love. But we are not to worship her, or pray to her, or through her. This would go against some of the Bible's basic commands.

That's using my brain to figure things out, not blindly following "tradition" and man's doctrines.
I do have close friends, and a wonderful mother. But I do not worship them, or pray to them, or thru them.
Your examples don't hold water, sorry.
