if I were applying to a masters program in composition, as support materials can I include electronic music?

By electronic compositions I mean like beats etc. I play the piano and guitar but for support materials they seem to want material that are for a variety of instruments. If I wrote something for multiple instruments but recorded with a midi controller would that be acceptable? also should I include vocals on it to show all the skills i have in my work?
