If i wanted to start talking to this girl is this a good way?

ok so we're in the study area where people chill out and work and talk

i see a girl that i think is pretty and i don't know her but i want to talk to her

so is this a good way

walk up to her and say "hey, are you in one of my lectures?" (even though she isn't)

girl will reply by saying:no i don't think so

me:oh sorry i thought i've seen you before. i'm jack by the way(not my name but we'll use jack). what's your name?

is that a good way to start a conversation
