If I want to change cellphone before 2yr contract ends...?

I bought my cellphone 3 months ago, but I need a smart phone for work.

If I buy new smart phone (as month to month) in Verizon site,

will they automatically stop my previous one?

Also, if I get new one through online shipping, can I use it immediately?
I am Verizon now.
 
if your current provider is verizon and you want a different phone from verizon there should not be a problem but if you are trying to change service there will be a charge
