If I load the same font twice on Font Book will it delete the first copy (on my iMac)?

I started loading around 7,000 fonts into Font Book and it's taking forever lol. I want to close out of it and finish loading the rest later. But I can only do that by choosing the same folder as I did earlier, since I won't know where Font Book left off.

I was wondering if doing this will load the earlier fonts again (making doubles) or will it just skip over them or delete the previous ones and load them again?

Hello jeremy r,

The main problem about Mac OS X is their use of multiple font folders. There is five or more font folders. Some programs get confused if they see the same font in more than one font folder. I use inDesign at it does that too. It sees more than one of the same fonts and gets confused and ignores both of them.

However, using Font Book doesn't move them into multiple font directories, but makes the programs recognize the font no matter where they are located.

You might try doing a Spotlight search of that font. If you see more than one, drag it into the trash can and delete it. Also some fonts get corrupted and need to be re-installed.

Best of luck.
