If I kill someone in a car accident, can the victims sue my parents even though...

...I'm over 18? So apparently according to my dad, until I turn 23 if I kill someone in a car accident or injure someone really badly the victims can basically go for my dads house even though I'm already legally an adult. Is this true? Please explain. Also I live in California so this might just be a California thing.
Cool you people are really helpful. Ok so currently the car is in his name and I asked him to transfer ownership to me so I could get my own insurance policy. He said that unless I get full coverage he can't do that because if I kill someone or damage them really bad they will base themselves off of his house. So would they still be able to sue him if the car was under my name, I still pay for my own school, but just live at home?

That could possibly happen. Whose car is it? And whose insurance? if are is your dad's then positively. I am assuming you are a dependent of your Dad's.

I am not sure what the law is on that, but if Dad loans you the car, then he can be sued and he can lose.

If you are driving a car registered in your name only, they cannot go after anyone else but you if you are over 18.

However, if you are driving any vehicle registered to either one of your parents, the victim can go after them regardless of your age.

If you are still a dependent of your parents, ie. living at home, going to college with their support, they pay for your car insurance, the car is in their name, etc...your father could be held liable for your actions. My father took a car away from me after I was married and living in CA because I couldn't get it out of his name and into mine because it couldn't pass a smog test, he took the car because he was worried about the same issue...I was 25 at the time.

Anybody can sue for anything, especially in California. The question is whether they would win.

They may claim your parents "contributed" to the accident by letting you use their car or something silly like that. I don't know the details of the situation enough to comment further.
