If I have a body from a 1984 ford escort hatchback that came with a gas

engine, can i put a diesel one in it? As i said- I have a 1984 diesel ford escort hatchback with a rusted-beyond-use body, and I wondered if I bought a 1984 Ford Escort Hatchback that came out the factory with a gasoline powered engine, would I be able to put my diesel engine in it, or would it not fit. Thanks!
