IF I GET THE HTC DROID ERIS BY VERIZON WIRELESS WILL I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA EACH MONTH?

ok so my upgrade is coming up ( i have verizon ), and I want the droid eris but people tell me that you do have to pay extra, like for internet and that stuff, but people also tell me that you dont. Whats true??? Thanks Oh and also right now I dont have a smartphone so Im not paying for internet right now
