I don't know where you get your info, but it's wrong.
You can not automatically retire from government employment after only 20 years.

go to www.usa.gov
click "jobs and education"

Yes military time counts for civil service retirement.

Yes you can retire after 20 years of civil service.

BUT, your pension will not start until your 55 years old.

You have to have 25 years service to retire and start collecting your pension immediately in the civil service.

Depends. I know that the Military Sealift Command (federal employment) has a prior-service preference for employment, and you can retire from that job in 20 years with a pension. You cannot start off at the job with prior service time factored into your retirement though.

I don't know about ALL government jobs.

You can "buy" your military time to allow it to factor into your Civil Service time.

You can't retire at 20 years. I think the current age is 60, but it has been changing some. Federal Gov't retirement has a smaller pension and uses the Thrift Savings Program. Basically, you get 1% of your pay (highest 5 years averaged) times the number of years you work. If you work 30 years, you get 30% of your pay plus whatever is in your Thrift Savings.

Depends who is resident AND if you are competent!

We will fire you if you are not!
