If i fired a gun (say 9mm) horizontally how far before the bullet drops to the ground? ?

Assuming I fired it in fictional wasteland that stretches for thousands of kilometers and totally flat, no wind, no objects to block the bullet's path, etc, etc. How many kilometers will the bullet travel before dropping to the ground?
 
Assuming that the gun were absolutely level, it would fall to the ground in exactly the same time as a bullet simply dropped to the ground from the end of the gun barrel. Using the height of the gun, figure this time, and multiply it by the muzzle velocity.
 
The distance it travels is a function of the height from which it was fired. It will hit the ground in the same time as if you dropped the bullet.
