If I fail a class, how will it affect me?

My high school has what they call program areas. It is basically a field of study you take throughout high school. As you progress you get college credit. Anyway, I'm in AP Computer Science A. I passed the first semester but at this point, I really can't take it anymore. 5-10 hours of homework for each lab, given around 2 or so labs a week. It's mostly up to the student to learn the material as we review in class. Why am I telling you this? I'm fed up with it. I don't wish to do any more work. Please don't answer telling me not to give up, I've made up my mind.

My real question is, how will this affect me? Obviously my GPA will drop a bit, but will I still get credit for the class? After all I did pass a full semester. I'm not sure exactly how the credits work. I'm willing to take an alternative course online over the summer such as Spanish. I don't have immediate plans for college but I do want to go, how will it affect me when I apply (I'm in the 10th grade). Next year I'm going to drop my major (Computer Science) and switch to IT where I feel a lot more comfortable in the class, or at least I do when I put effort into it. So say I want to take a computer course in college, will colleges overlook my failed grade or hold it against me, generally speaking.
I do put in minimum effort. It is the coding projects that he gives us for homework that costs the most points. It is a hard to understand subject unless you're passionate about it. What I do is read the material for points, make up some questions about it, and then do a worksheet or two depending on what he gives us. That might get me 40%. If I find any codes online then it could be higher. However finding the exact program with the exact coding style he wants online is difficult.

Oh and, they said I could still be in the tournament, what the hell are you on about? You know nothing about wizardry.
