If I decide to download Google Chrome, do I just delete Internet Explorer

from my computer? What are the advantages/disadvantages of Google Chrome compared to Internet Explorer 9? I've heard a lot people say that Google Chrome is the best bet. Yet I don't know why. I've heard it's lighter, and loads pages faster. Is there anything I will lose/gain if I download this browser?
