If I buy a T-Mobile Phone and use a T-Mobile Sim Card Prepaid will it still work?

I want a phone from T-Mobile Phone. But I don't want to do the unlimited plan or the pay as you go. So I can just use a T-Mobile prepaid Sim card and will it still work?
