get the data plan? I'm thinking of buying a G1 off ebay, and I already have a t-mobile sim card from my old phone. I've been reading around, and people have been stating that I have to buy the data plan when getting the G1?

also, will it work the same?

am i able to get texting even though I don't have it right now?

You do have to purchase a data plan for the G1. It will not work if you do not. The first stage of getting a G1 active, is making a google email account to open it up, and you cannot do that without the internet. With that said, you have to have a monthly plan as this phone will not work on pre paid, this is because you cannot pay for internet on prepaid plans. There are many T-mobile plans that incorporate text and data. I suggest visiting a retail store to see what fits you best.
