If you are buying from a dealer, the dealer is required to insure that you have insurance before they allow you to drive the car off the lot. If it is a personal seller, they may not be obligated. However, its just not the smart thing to do. You should not buy a vehicle if you can't afford the insurance on it.

Well i'm looking to buy my first car, if i bought a car could i drive it home from where ever i bought it from with no insurance? Obviously i'd just leave it at home and not drive it till i got insurance but would just need to get it from the seller to my house first.
