...Americans still discussing it? This is America. Rights are rights. They are not subject to "community consensus" every time someone wants to exercise them.
Who cares if anyone thinks the way I exercise my rights is a good idea or not. That's why they are called RIGHTS.
Under NYC planning laws, as well as the First Amendment, they have the right.
Just because I can does mean I can.
We have laws and existing legal precendent on prayer in public schools, hate speech, etc. No one - except evidently you - has argued that simply building a place of worship is hateful or akin to introducing religion into public schools.
