Not So Great American

ok if a community wants Sharia Law? Say a small town like Dearborn Michigan wants to set up Sharia Law. Even if it's just for civil, not criminal matters.
Once again: civil matters. We're not talking about stoning or chopping off hands here.
Marl, conservatives are saying that the Federal gov't shouldn't be able to restrict the sovereignty of states and municipalities. So if a small community wants to have Sharia law, I can only guess they would support that right?

The problem is, Sharia Law governs criminal matters also.

In a since, I would not mind, as long as I have the right to move. It would be interesting to see exactly how long a community could exist.

if they want to apply laws from the bible then they should be perfectly fine with letting another town use the Qu'ran.

I believe once a community is accepting of Sharia Law it will graduate to the worst of it. You may only be talking about civil but it won't stop there.*

No establishment of state religion is permitted.

Read the Constitution.

The Constitution also reserves all rights and powers NOT enumerated or forbidden to the states and the people.

Separation of church and state (to quote you guys)...
the same if the Amish wanted to set up the same in their communities or Orthodox Jews in theirs.

Would it even be considered?

Oh, and do you even KNOW what Sharia law is?

I guess if enough 'tards voted it in, it would happen. I don't think that would ever happen though
