If an antenna can boost my mobile broadband connection so i can play xbox live lag free?

hi im trying to play games on xbox live such as gears of war 2 and call of duty modern warefare 2.. well i can play those games online but the lag is bad..i currently have a verizon um175 usb modem...any suggestions... i really want to play on xbox livee lag free.. and ive already tried gettin dsl but they wont bring it out here( even tho people down the road have it)...so please help
