...criminal record regardless of outcome? I'm not too sure of the specifics in this particular case, but if anyone knows generally that would be helpful.

I'm pretty sure that the soldier in question was dishonourably discharged, not sure if there was anything more or less about the sentence. Like I said, I'm unsure about details. He was on trial for failing to pass drug tests.

The reason I ask is because he's applying for a visa to move overseas, and we have to list any criminal convictions he has - but we have no idea if this counts or if it's even on his civilian criminal record. It's not the kind of charge that would deny him the visa so we're not worried about putting the details down if we have to, just want to know whether we need to or not =)
Thanks for the answer so far, one more question - I don't know how the military and court martials work...

If all he ended up with was a dishonourable discharge, does that usually mean he was convicted? Or can he be acquitted but still discharged?
AND... is there anyone he could call or write to to find info about what's on his record?
