If a phone has been unlocked but has no slot for a sim card, can I still use it?

Hey everyone! So I currently have cingular, who uses the sim card (will most likely remain on cingular), but my phone that came with my plan is broken and my contract won't end until 08. I have been looking to get replacement phones on ebay (since they are generally cheaper).

However I do not know which phones are compatible with cingular. I know the basics that if it has a sim card slot and it's unlocked it will most defiantly work (if I insert my sim card). But what about if the phone in unlocked and it has no sim card slot? For example the samsung u740, will this work for my cingular?

If anyone can show me or explain to me what I should be looking for in finding a phone that is cingular compatible I would gladly appreciate it. As well as how I can tell if a certain phone has a sim card slot. Generally I am confused with compatibilty.

Thanks for your time

You need to shop online for an unlocked GSM phone. www.importgsm.com www.myworldphone.com www.pure-mobile.com www.la-lawest.com www.cti-miami.com www.cellswholesale.com

You should get a quad band GSM phone if you are using Cingular, to ensure that you will have good coverage. Choose what brand you want, then decide what model. Not all of them are quad band, most of them are tri band.

I believe that the Samsung you mentioned is for Verizon, so it will not work.

Your best bet is to get a Cingular branded phone, especially if you are unsure as to which one to buy. That way you know it will work.

If you buy from the US, any unlocked T-Mobile branded phone or any cingular phone will work. If you buy off another website/country, make sure uses GSM.

U740 is a Verizon phone. I've also seen it at Telus up here. There is no way that phone is GSM. BTW, if you really like it, some phones WILL have A GSM version, like the LG Chocolate Flip and the SAmsung Upstage
