...him a buck? We were at a shopping center and a man on a bicycle came up to us and asked us for gas money... we are trying to figure out when bicycles started running on gas!

hmm, don't trust him? well, if you can pretty much tell that he really is in need of having gas money, then give him like a buck or two. (but depending on where you're living, gas prices can be pricey.) just ask him if his car broke down and stuff. and i'm pretty sure you can tell if he's lying or not

i may be generalizing, but it is really scary when a person approaches you for money. try to look busy or make yourself scarce. i hate to say this, but most people riding bikes asking for money are trouble. your gut can usually tell you if they are really in need, or just in need of drugs.
