from that sender go to "spam"? or do I need to set up filters to stop mail fro ma particular sender being trated as spam?
Likewise - if i receive a mail, and I mark it as spam - will mail from that sender always be treated as spam - or do i need to set a filter?

Yes. That should add the sender address to the 'known list' and in future make them go to your inbox. Safer still is to add them to your address book. Anything from people in there should not end up as Spam.

If you mark something as Spam, then future things from that sender might still get through. It only marks it as being suspect, just in case a contact has had their account used for spam sending. So the address is automatically on a black-list.

Most webmail accounts have black-list white-lists but Yahoo uses algorithms for Spam filtering. Which work by and large.

I think Spam is reducing in the credit crunch. Yay!

Just 'Mark as safe' - then any future emails from that address will be delivered to your in-box

If you mark mail as spam - all future mailings from that address will be diverted to your spam folder.

It's all automatic.
