...electricity? Instead of using DC energy, could I use AC energy to power a joule thief? I want to use the joule thief as device to boost voltage. A joule thief is originally designed to use nearly all of the energy in a battery for driving light loads, even far beyond the point where other circuits consider the battery "dead"... its able to use a 0.3 volt voltage to power something that requires 3 volts.
Doesnt the joule thief turn DC energy into AC energy by using the ferrite toroid anyway?
If that is true then couldnt I just feed it AC energy in the first place?
If the ferrite toroid acts as a transformer then does the joule thief also convert DC input to AC output or no?
