There is a Japanese girl who studies with me. I have a feeling that she has a crush on me, because of her staring at and asking academic questions more than usual to me and always wanting me to help her rather than taking help from anyone else, etc. I am a brown asian. (We both are in 20's, not teens.)
Before a few days we were talking about how to say some common words in different languages. (We have a multicultural group) Everyone was talking about how to say some common things in their own language. The Japanese girl asked me how to say 'I Like You' in my language. I answered it like a normal question, to show everything is normal.
But then I looked on the internet and found that 'I like you' is synonym for 'I love you' in Japanese culture. They never say 'I love you', but only 'I like you'. Does this confirm my doubt that she has a crush on me ? I am not much aware of Japanese culture things and the mentality of Japanese girls. Her English is not so good.
But would you girls go to such an extent of asking the translation of such words to a boy from a different race to give him the 'hidden signal' or it is just a friendly question out of curiosity which has no such meaning ? We can also think that she might have asked so that she can tell the same words to someone ELSE later, but if it is so, wouldn't she be afraid of being misinterpreted while asking this to a silmilar age boy in front of 2-3 other people ? Couldn't she have asked some other friends (Maybe a female) in private ? Or she is just being friendly ?
More Information : She has a bf (100% confirmed) but she has never mentioned this while talking to me. (He is not Japanese.)She talks about her bf with my other close friends when she is online, but she has never raised this topic with me. However she seems happy with him. But at the same time she asks me for favours more than anyone else. Even other people working with me who don't know she has a bf seriously think she likes me a lot. If she thinks me as a good friend, why wouldn't she mention to me that she has a bf, when she does it to my other guy friends ? I am confused.
