How do I find out what personal property is exempt in Mississippi? Is it the "Property exempt from seizure under execution or attachment section?"

Also this is my situation:

I was in a serious accident last year, I have had five reconstructive surgeries done on my legs, I am currently in a wheelchair with leg cast. My doctor has already told me I would never be able to walk without assistance again, and had told me to file for my SS Disability. I have been paying the hospitals a monthly payment, not much because I loss my job due to this accident, and they have been accepting the payments (which I know they can still turn me over for collections).

Now I have been contacted by NCO a collection agency, well the first thing I did was request a VOD, because I do not want it reported on my credit, and they have now sent one to me, just a computer printout from the hospital, that is not correct because it does not show my last two payments. Anyway I am trying to stop this from being reported on my credit, and to also make myself familar with my states laws, in case they do pursue the debt in court.

How do I inform the Collection Agency, (any sample letters would be wonderful) that I am trying to fulfill my obligation, and that there is no way I can pay more money than I already am. I am unemployed due to the accident, I do not own my home, I am making payments, I have no monies in any accounts, I only own my car which is 7 years old.

Am I debt proof? Also I can not get the hospital to return my calls, I wanted to AGAIN explain, and request them to pull the debt back from collections.

Any advise??
