If a car is under warrenty, does that make it ok for the repair shop to take their time?

I bought a used car and it had a 30 day bumper to bumper warrenty. Thank goodness it did, the car has been nothing but trouble ever since we got it. It has been in to be fixed at least 5 times now. The last time I dropped it off there was wednesday of last week.

It is now Tuesday evening, and the car is still not repaired. I feel like they are putting me off because they aren't making any money on the repairs.

Is there anything I can do? Do they have the right to do this?
I'm a woman, so bare with me if I get names of things wrong...

The check engine light has come on a lot. The first time the air needed to be bled out of something, then they did it again. Then the engine overheated and the antifreeze leaked all over the ground and the car was smoking. They towed it and fixed it. The engine light came on again and they did more repairs. Something about the temp gauge. Then it came on again last week and they replaced the O2 sensor and determined they needed to change a cadalitic converter.

Basically every time the check engine light comes on, the car starts to smoke.

We've taken it other places for a second opinion and all they did was bleed out the air again.

The place we bought it from has taken it for second opinions as well.

None of these problems started until 2 days after we got it home. During the test drive it was lovely.

Are they just doing some 'quick fix' each time and hoping we don't notice?
Because I have been calling so much the past week because I need my car, I have the owner's cell phone number. I have spoken to him probably 10+ times.
The owner of the used car lot. It wasn't a private sale.
