Arghhhhhhhh, why do people go to the cinema if they have no intention of sitting quietly and watching the film? Sick of paying

This is for the guy who wrote the original thread - good on you for ranting!!
There don't seem to be enough of us out there nowadays!
We tend to be compared to 'Victor Meldrew'..
actually, I would reagrd this as a compliment, because grumpy old Victor was usually the only one who cared enough to risk retaliation by speaking his mind....
good on Victor... and good on you!!!
My last cinema visit was about 2-3 years ago...same kind of problem....inconsiderate yobs who obviously didn't want to watch the film...had just decided to ruin it for everyone else...
I've not been back to a cinema since then...much prefer to watch a good dvd on my own TV, accompanied by a good glass of wine, plenty of snacks, and good company...
Don't know how old you are..
I'm aged 43, and I remember the 'Good Old Days', when every cinema used to have an usher showing you to your seat. And then, he/she would sit at the back of the cinema for the duration of the movie, with the intention of making sure that everyone 'behaved'...
of course, this was back in the days when you used to get value for money..

I'm 39 and also wish for the old days! I paid this at the Odeon in Harrogate and it's not even a nice cinema, I won't be going back there!

my pet hates are the people who turn up halfway though the traliers and make the whole row stand up so they can get to the two seats in the middle. and have your bloody conversations outside

My pet hate are people who dangle their feet over the back of the chair next to me. I do not want to sit next to your scruffy trainers for two hours thank you.

I went to see Madagascar in a cinema in Mumbai.....man, I couldn't hear a thing for all the locals pissing themselves with laughter at the slightest thing....in fact the funniest thing about it was the "jokes" the locals were laughing at!

Also worth noting....the cinema was covered in signs saying "If Bomb Strikes : Run This Way --->".....nice; it was also filled with smoke as smoking is perfectly acceptable in cinemas there and we even had an interval halfway through! People were constantly on their mobile phones, chatting away.....and jeering, booing and cheering at the movie is an absolute must!...apparently.

So comparing British cinemas to this experience.....I feel grateful.

So you get annoyed at people who have come to see the film........right ok! They aren't to know that they would be the only two people left in that row are they.

It's only the trailers.

I never go to see comedy/slightly amusing films at the cinema. I'm not one for laughing out loud. It would have to be something really funny to make me laugh out loud.

If there are loaRAB of people laughing it put's me off, I end up listening to them and not the film.

I wish I had a sense of humour. It's not fair.

During the violent bit of History of Violence towarRAB the end somebody four rows down decided this was the funniest thing in the world (it wasn't) and decided that along with his loud guffas that we would all like some of his popcorn as he threw the damn thing backwarRAB.

Shouting very loudly "Next time, rent the bloody video and do us all a favour."

Result. Not a peep from then on which admittedly was only another 10 minutes but still - a result of some sort.
