Hi, I'm an ESL student. Can anyone help me understand the above sentence from John Updike's short story called A&P? The narrator - who's a shop clerk - is observing a young female customer he is attracted to. He says that the girl
"kept her eyes moving across racks, and stopped, and turned so slow it made my stomach rub the inside of my apron."
Does this mean he became impatient because she was so slow? I don't know. I'd appreciate native speakers' perspectives. Thank you in advance.
