I am searching for information or studies about the long term effectiveness of the IDET proceedure. I had an idet in 1998. It helped for a short period of time however my back progressively got worse until last month when I had a 2 level fusion. I have found a couple of studies that show a high percentage of people receiving the idet back where they were or worse within a couple of years or less. Some ending up with fusion surgery anyway. This was a work related accident and the state of wyoming is refusing to reopen my case. I need to prove to them that at the time when the idet proceedure was done there was no way for the medical proffesion to know the long term effects of the idet. I need to be able to show that this proceedure is not a long term solution. So any information anyone has would be greatly appreciatted. It is kind of strange this proceedure had many studies done initially, most showing positive results, and most not performed in a way that was non bias. However unlike alot of new proceedures it dosent appear they have followed it long term. Maybe its a money thing I dont know. I beleive that there are instances where in the right circumstances and careful patient selection this proceedure helps. From my own experience I received some relief from the idet. However it was short lived. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Al in wyoming
