Identify a film

Ok I dont have much to go on here because I only ever saw this film once when I was around 10 years old I believe the basic plot centred around a half human half ape baby being born and growing up. I think it was possibly made in the 80's or maybe early 90's. I remember watching it on TV possibly ITV at the time. I can't remember anything else about it really, but any help is appreciated.
 
Its possible this was indeed it, as I said I was roughly 10 when I watched it, so will have to try and find a copy of this and then will know for sure. But you might just be right.
 
Yep this is it, I think the reason I remembered it as a film was that my grandmother recorded all episodes back to back and I watched them all in one sitting. Thats what 19 years does for your brain I guess.
 
I thought Chrimera as well
Diane Rigg and Charles Dance. I was young also, but at an age where i took note of actors names for some reason!!!
but also, I could swear there was an alternate movie made at the same time. same plot, but not related.
i could swear on the life of the ice cream i am about to eat...
