Ideas on painting a catsuit?

I'm looking to paint a skin-tight garment but haven't figured quite how. It's to be worn as a "skin" of a costume I'm making. I need it to be a shiny gold. It is currently a bright yellow. I tried using spray-on fabric paint from JoAnn with it on a body double bit the paint just comes out of the can splotchy and uneven.

Suggestions? I need it for this weekend and am running out of time!
