I'd heard that Mr. Rogers (the kids show that I grew up watching) was a Navy Seal?

Mr. pants

Or some other sort of veteran with a crap load of tattoos on his arms- thats why he always wore a long sleeve sweater? Any truth to this?

Yes, he was. That's why he liked to mention putting on his socks. When he was a seal he used to wear flippers often. He also spent a lot of time doing cold water training which of course has an effect on the nerves in the feet. Thus the importance of socks. He gave up on the seals after his team accused him of having a foot fetish and tied him up and dragged behind a destroyer. They dragged him from the northernmost point of Scotland to Puerto Rico. When they arrived in Puerto Rico he was worn but not so worn as to put up a fight. Anyways it's a long painful story and it's really too big to post here so I'll just leave it there. The man is a hero who became a victim who became a hero again. Just remember in life that everything is about the socks.
