Why does Ichiro have Ichiro on the back of his uniform when that's his first name. I haven't noticed that until today when i was watching the sox game.
He continued it in the US, and is quite known for it. It's a big part of why many people refer to him as Ichiro insteada of Suzuki, as they refer to many other players by last names. Vida Blue also wore his first name only on his uniform, not for the same reasons as Ichi, though.
