ice & salt..

Well, I did something dumb a few days ago. I gave myself and ice & salt burn. It was only on my skin for about 10-20 seconds, and it was just red and it seemed to be healing. I resisted scratching at first, but yesterday I just had to. Stupid, I know. Anyway, now it itches like crazy and I think they're blisters but they don't like like normal blisters...

Well anyway, I'm never doing this again. :P I just want to know what would be the best way to treat it? I'm 14 and my family is freaking out. I don't want to tell them because they'll think it was self-harm because I'm depressed, but it was really just me being bored.

I took some pictures... They're bad, sorry. I just want it to go away soon so my family doesn't see it necessary to take me to the doctors.

You may think salt melts ice but it also causes a chemical reaction and that causes a burn....more like frost bite.

Treat it as you would a burn. See if you can get some ointment from your doctor for the burn or at least get some kind of burn ointment from the drug store. Keep it covered and keep the ointments on it. that should relieve the itching.

And if you think doing stuff like this is okay just because you're bored, maybe you do need some counseling. That is kind of crazy. I know....I have arms full of scars from self inflicted wounds and I won't even go into the other crazy stuff I did. Get some help now to understand why you think it's okay to inflict pain on yourself just because you're bored. Most people try to avoid pain.

Self injury behavior can become "addictive" as a way to block out the world....almost like taking drugs....so deal with it now before you can't
control it.
