Ice Age 4 confirmed

So they had one successful movie and now they're sequeling it into the ground well after people are already tired of the series.

Blue Sky has officially become the new DreamWorks.

Agreed. After taking a human baby back to its herd, getting a girl for ya best friend who was thought of the last of his kind, and going to the Land of the Lost to save a sloth who wants to be a father because he has no purpose in life, where can Blue Sky go from there?

I hope that this isn't true with Toy Story since the film could've gone out at the end of both of their films but we had to get another one that was almost ruined until Pixar gained control of it. Once TS3 hits theaters, Pixar needs to pull a Michael Jackson and tell the fans and Disney that 'This is it.' Wish that Blue Sky had thought of saying that after Ice Age 2 which I don't really care about anymore evne if it did make me laugh.

So, it's going to take place in modern times in the fourth movie?
I always knew they'd end up doing that.
Still all these sequels for Ice Age is dumb.

I concur with Jbwarner's statement.

The sequels are teetering on the line of overkill. Blue Sky needs to prove that they have more than Ice Age up their sleeves. What's going to happen when the soccer moms get tired of dragging Jimmy to Ice Age 20? The money'll (hopefully) stop pouring in, and where will Blue Sky be? Do they have a plan in place (besides liquidation) when Ice Age, if you'll pardon the pun, freezes over?

And this borders on the realm of bashing, but TH4W sounds more like internet short hand than an actual title. I do like that they're trying to mix up the formula a tad, however. I still think it may not sell movie tickets. One quick question: is Josh Peck still signed on to play the possum he did in Meltdown? I didn't see him in the trailers.

Thoughts?

I knew this one was coming and I already know what the plot is too. They gave out a bit of information on it and I wasn't to pleased with the story, this is coming from an Ice Age fan :p

I think that the idea is pretty interesting too. It really all does come down to if they can pull off the story. I don't like the name either, but they can change it. I like how it does mirror recent events as well.

While I think the first Ice Age was fine, I thought that Ice Age 2 was a pretty nice sequel. I haven't seen Ice Age 3, but it looks nice. It does seem a bit early to confirm a fourth movie, but if it can work out and be at least an enjoyable movie, it will be fine with me.

I have to admit though that since there were a few sequels for Ice Age, I thought that it was a Dreamswork movie, not Blue Sky.

Personally, I love all three of the Ice Age movies. They get better and better with each one, so I'm very excited for the 4th one and think it sounds like a good story too.

They haven't disappointed me so far, so I say bring it on! I can't get enough of Ice Age.

I don't consider it overkill either, I mean....Shrek's got 3 movies, and (last I heard back before the third on hit theaters) they're planning on a 4th and 5th film in addition to a Puss N' Boots spin-off.

I thought IA3 was pretty good. I don't want them to overdo it though with a 4th movie. If they take the "prehistoric animals in a modern world approach", this probably means an annoying, new, kid character. :brendon:

Nope. I'm in the same boat.
I don't even have any desire to see the third one at all. I don't think Ice Age was one of those movies that needed a sequel. I didn't even know there was a lot of demand for it, to me it's an obvious cash cow and I think the whole "prehistoric era" thing is pretty tired. It was used a lot in the early 00's.There was a whole kids TV show with this premise.

I think the characters waking up in a museum is a great idea. Wouldn't it be cool if Diego and Sid got to know their kind during modern times. Imagine the friends Peaches will make.

...Really? Jeez, I was actually fine with this being a trilogy.

I mean, the concept is okay, even though it has been done before, but...how do I even pronounce "Ice Age Th4w"? Is it supposed to be "Thaw", because I don't know how a 4 is supposed to make an "A" sound.

Though, yes, I agree that Blue Sky needs to find something ELSE to focus on. Robots was a step in the right direction, haven't seen Horton yet, but dedicating the majority of their films to one franchise is a bit out there. Not even Dreamworks focuses ONLY on Shrek.
