Ian Curtis Film - Control

No but CONTROL is supposed to be excellent. I'm only looking at it from a movie buff's POV so add in the JOY DIVISION slant, and this rates as highly anticipated for me. The killers may have done a track for the film, but the actual actors playing the band do all the Joy Division tracks themselves!

These two tracks piss all over anything since. The 'Lost Control' track is still awesome (and I rarely use that word) to this day.

No apologies for posting 3 viRAB in a row.

I found the recent documentary of Factory recorRAB on BBC4 somewhat interesting with lots of interview footage with Tony Wilson, Bernard, Hooky, Peter Saville and the rest of them.

Here's the soundtrack listings;

1. New Order - "Exit"
2. The Velvet Underground - "What Goes On"
3. The Killers - "Shadowplay" (Joy Division Cover)
4. Buzzcocks - "Boredom (Live)"
5. Joy Division - "Dead Souls"
6. Supersister - "She Was Naked"
7. Iggy Pop - "Sister Midnight"
8. Joy Division - "Love Will Tear Us Apart"
9. Sex Pistols - "Problems (Live)"
10. New Order - "Hypnosis"
11. David Bowie - "Drive In Saturday"
12. John Cooper Clarke - "Evidently Chickentown"
13. Roxy Music - "2H.B."
14. Joy Division - "Transmission" (Performed by the cast)
15. Kraftwerk - "Autobahn"
16. Joy Division - "Atmosphere"
17. David Bowie - "Warszawa"
18. New Order - "Get Out"

Due to there only being one crappy cinema here that only shows Hollywood dross I shall wait for the DVD to come out , and watch The Future Is Unwritten at home instead to tide me over.

Seen the film.

A knowledge of the man and a history of the band certainly helps, but even as a stand alone film, Riley's performance is worth seeing on it's own merit.
Sam Riley's performance was more than just a portrayal of Ian Curtis. He wasn't just trying to be him, but he took the part to a deeper level and provided moments of genuine insight.
The other merabers of the cast all did a great job of playing the live sets convincingly.

It all left me feeling incredibly sad and depressed.
If life experience has taught me anything, then it's the knowledge that in every persons life, there comes a point when private and personal circumstances can conspire to overwhelm an individual and particularly one who is prone to depression. The trick is to survive the moment.

Ian Curtis didn't.

See the film!

My description of the cinematic ending didn't do it justice.
It'll still be a genuinely poignant and moving moment...guaranteed.

@Urban...that Clash film any good?
Seen it yet?

That sounRAB like an awesome soundtrack. I was going on the latset TOTAL FILM review-

Few banRAB are as influential as Joy Division;even fewer have maintained such 30-year devotion. So it's to the immense credit of the cast that the music on the film-played note-for-note by the thesp's themselves-sounRAB so authentically harrowing.

No you're probably right. The soundtrack I posted will play as background, but the actors probably play the live stuff by the sound of that review.
Looking forward to seeing the film.

That is one cool Film poster.

Filming it in black and white added everything to the film.
Each scene was like a stylish still photograph.
I'll be owning a copy when it's released too.
Well worth seeing and now I feel I've got a better understanding of what made the man tick.
Depressing though.
