i870..FLASHStrap/White Screen...What's going on??

I have seen several things cause the phone to act this way, more often then not people download software they have no business with and play with things they do not know about and mess up the phone. But as of late I have seen almost as many phones doing this just from being dropped.

Most of the connectors inside the phone use a self locking system that is very weak and often the shock of an impact will cause the conector to loose connection for a second but long enough to cause an interenal software error that can only be fixed with a software reload. If your phone is working now and no other problems occur you should be fine if not take it into a service center.

Just a standard nextel data cable is needed. You could prob click an ad any where on this page, i think they have an accessory store here, ebay, or I have them on site. I do also have a flash cable for those tougher phones to program. I would say it works 99% of the time where a normal cable works 75% of the time. The flash cable is a great deal more money.

The software is free go to www.mot.com/iden click support then pc software. software updates and then the model.

I suggest charging the battery up on a functioning phone or using a fully charged battery. the update takes about 20 mins. You WILL loose all personal stuff like pics and ringtones. The sim card and your contacts SHOULD be ok but I would say 5% of the updates I do the phone book gets whipped out. I am not sure if the phone did it prior or if the update does it. I back up the sim or put another sim in the phone.

The update may require you to disable the usb mode in settings under memcard to complete the update. It will begin failing to comunicate with the phone. disable and continue. It should work. Some times flashtrap mode is required.

A h2o or crushed phone doing this will only continue to fail. If you get it running it will crash again and again and again.....
