i830 signal problems. What's up with that?

I bought an i830 about a week ago. Before i recieved the phone in the mail someone had told me that i made a mistake getting that phone because of the signal problems it has. Sure enough, when the phone arrived i turned it on and in about 20 minutes i realized that the phone signal really did suck. I wnet to the nextel service center and asked what thay could do to improve it and the response was try a new phone (ha-ha). Does anyone know any tricks to get a better signal?
 
i spoke to a nextel rep a few days ago and they say to expect the phone to come out anytime now. supposidly, one thing that they were waiting for is the i860 rebate offer to end, and the final day to send in the $50 rebate for that phone is tomorrow, the 15th, so hopefully it will come out soon after that. anyone have any other insight/information?
 
first off you in now way are responding to this persons question. and if you are speaking of the i930, which i believe you are it will not be out until the middle of this year.

as for the answer to this persons question, the i730 is the phone with the real signal problems, i have not heard to many issues with the i830 but one thing that helps on my i730 is when you are using it try to keep your hand away form the antenna area, that seems to help me.
