I write poetry and short stories but for some reason some label thinks i'm a lead...

...singer or something? they sent me an email to play a show through myspace! i checked it out and it's legit! What can make a small label think someone is a lead singer without hearing them?
Ooh by the way I post stuff sometimes on myspace but nothing where i am singing.
